Stop Smoking Strategy

This means that his approach and experience to stopping smoking have been independently validated and recommended by the General Hypnotherapy Register.
The Health Behaviour Centre (www.ucl.ac.uk) funded by Cancer Research UK says the most successful way in sustaining energy and emotion in stopping smoking is by changing the way we think about ourselves and the person we want to be, for instance, not a smoker but an ex-smoker - is important.
In this way we violate our own identity if we resume smoking.
Self violation is aversive - a sort of self imposed electric shock.

Following this, options can then be discussed as to how you can use your time and resources more beneficially now you have stopped smoking.
During this time the image, idea and belief of you as an ex-smoker becomes clearer and stronger.
The exact content of the stop smoking hypnotherapy treatment varies for each client, but there is often plenty of mental rehearsal for situations where in the past you would have been tempted to smoke.
This prepares you for how to deal with those danger spots in your new life.
The rest of the stop smoking treatment will vary as the more specific and individual this is the more effective it becomes.
